About Me

Welcome to my Blog: Yankee Texan’s View of the World. As you may have seen in my profile, I was born and raised in Massachusetts and have resided in the state of Texas since 2005. I moved here because it felt like home every time I made a visit. That feeling continues today. Many native Texans have suggested that I am allowed to receive a special dispensation to stay because I married a Texan and then, more importantly, brought another one into the world. And, to be honest, that beautiful baby girl who will soon turn three may very well be the reason for this blog and also for my Hub Pages.

I had a successful career in Human Resources for several years, have owned two businesses with my husband and had other adventures along the way to here. However, there is no role or job more important than the one I have today and I would not trade that job for anything.

Watching the world through her eyes has caused me to want to make the world a better place to live in and to also learn more about it. I read, watch and listen to more news and commentary now and I do not limit myself to the mainstream media. I want my child to explore, to view all of the information and to make informed decisions. It is my belief that she will learn to do so by watching my husband and I. I’d love to think that I can leave her education up to the public school system, but I do not think I can or should. It is my responsibility as a parent to be integrally involved.

So here I am. Professional turned full-time housewife and mother, still hungry for knowledge of the world around her, and, honestly, quite frustrated by some of what I find. I hope you will join me (and her) as we learn more about the world around us.
